What is Workforce Development?

Finding, training and employing a diverse, skilled workforce that is prepared to meet upcoming construction demands was ODOT's goal in creating the landmark Workforce Development Program. The program is designed to expand diversity in employment, increase apprenticeship participation, and increase training resources and opportunities for highway construction jobs throughout the state.
 
 
ODOT-BOLI Highway Construction Workforce Development Program
“Promoting opportunities in Oregon’s highway construction trades” The Oregon Department of Transportation and the Oregon Bureau of Labor & Industries have partnered to expand opportunities for diversity in employment, increase apprenticeship participation and increase training resources for individuals interested in highway construction careers
throughout the State of Oregon.
 
 
Program Specifications
 
It is ODOT's policy that all necessary and reasonable steps are taken to ensure that apprentices have the opportunity to participate on highway construction projects and to develop as journey-level workers in the given trade or job classification employed, and to meet this Training Goal.
The following are state and federal project specifications for meeting this policy.
