Business hours at Ashland and Cottage Grove DMV field offices will change as of March 4 to align with similar-sized DMV offices elsewhere in the state.

The Ashland DMV office will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but will close for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. each day. The office is currently open Tuesday through Friday with no lunch closure.

The change provides access to DMV services on Mondays for Ashland-area customers and allows DMV to shift some staff time to the busier Medford office.

The Cottage Grove DMV will continue to be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but as of March 4 it will close for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. each day. This change provides greater flexibility for scheduling staff lunch breaks and to accomplish back-office work.

These changes are part of DMV’s ongoing statewide rebalancing of staffing levels to meet budget targets. During the past four years, DMV has reduced its staffing through retirements and eliminating vacant positions in addition to closing for statewide furlough days.

DMV recommends that people first check www.OregonDMV.com before visiting a field office in person. Customers can complete some DMV business online or find out how to make their visit as efficient as possible.
