Mailing In Your Transaction?

Please do not send any mail to this office. All mailed-in transactions should be sent to DMV Headquarters:


This office offers drive test appointments. Drive tests at DMV are given by appointment only. You may schedule a testing (not an issuance) appointment using DM2U, or by calling the office number above. If appointments are full, check back daily for new appointments. You may schedule a drive test using a 3rd Party Tester or at a DMV office.

You must show proof of insurance before a drive test. You can use:
  • A valid insurance card;
  • A current vehicle liability insurance policy or binder; or
  • A DMV Certificate of Self-Insurance showing you as the owner of the vehicle. 
Note: If there is inclement weather, drive tests may be canceled or traction devices may be required. Please confirm your drive test using DMV2U or calling the office number above. DMV offices are closed for Statewide Holidays​.​

Going North

  • From I-205 northbound, take Powell Blvd (OR-26) exit (Exit 19).
  • Turn LEFT (west) onto Powell Blvd at the traffic light at the end of the off-ramp.
  • Continue west on Powell Blvd for about 5 blocks.
  • Turn LEFT (south) on 86th Ave (at the third traffic light from the I-205 exit).
  • The DMV office is located on the corner of Powell Blvd and 86th Ave.


Going South

  • From I-205 southbound, take the Division St/Powell Blvd exit (Exit 19).
  • This is a combination exit that accesses multiple streets.
  • Follow the signs to Powell Blvd.
  • Turn RIGHT (west) at the traffic light on Powell Blvd.
  • Continue west on Powell Blvd for about 5 blocks.
  • Turn LEFT (south) on 86th Ave (at the third traffic light from the I-205 exit).
  • The DMV office is located on the corner of Powell Blvd and 86th Ave.


Going East (from downtown Portland)

  • Take the Ross Island Bridge across the Willamette River.
  • Continue east on Powell Blvd (OR-26).
  • Turn RIGHT (south) on 86th Ave.
  • The DMV office is located on the corner of Powell Blvd and 86th Ave.


Going West (from Gresham)

  • Travel west on Powell Blvd (OR-26).
  • Continue west about 5 blocks past I-205.
  • Turn LEFT (south) on 86th Ave (at the third traffic light after passing I-205).
  • The DMV is located on the corner of Powell Blvd and 86th Ave.
