| Out-of-State Drivers in Oregon |

Residents of other states operating vehicles in Oregon must be:
- At least 16 years of age and have a valid out-of-state driver license, or
- At least 15 years of age and have a valid out-of-state instruction permit.
Out-of-state instruction permit holders must abide by the same restrictions as a person with an Oregon Instruction Permit.
Is my out-of-state insurance valid in Oregon?
Your insurance is valid while you are visiting in Oregon as long as your premium is paid. You need to have proof of insurance in the vehicle. If you do not have proof and are stopped by law enforcement, they can cite you for driving uninsured or for failure to provide proof of insurance. If you are cited, you must prove to the court that you had insurance on the day the officer cited you or you will be subject to Oregon's financial responsibility law.

| Becoming an Oregon Resident |

You must get an Oregon Driver License or Instruction Permit when you become an Oregon resident, even if your out-of-state license or instruction permit has not yet expired. When Oregon DMV issues an Oregon Driver License or Instruction Permit, you must surrender any driver license, instruction permit or ID card from another state.
