Last day at current location
As Corvallis DMV gets ready to move from its current location on Friday, Sept. 18, the agency is taking steps to lessen the impact of a temporary closure.
Negotiations to extend the lease at the current site were unsuccessful, so DMV is preparing to move to a different location in Corvallis. A new site and reopening date will be announced once a lease agreement is finalized and site preparations are under way.
"The search for a new office, lease negotiations, preparing a new building and installing our equipment could take several months," DMV Field Services Manager Stephanie Miles said. "We don't know how long it will be, so we are taking steps to lessen the impact to the community."
Among the measures:
"Although we can’t do many transactions at these informational events, we can provide forms, answer questions and help ensure Corvallis residents have what they need before making a trip to a DMV office," Miles said. "We also encourage people to visit OregonDMV.com to see if they can do their business with us online or download forms and do it by mail."
- DMV added an extra drive-test examiner for the final weeks at the current Corvallis location.
- Corvallis DMV employees will be assigned to offices in surrounding communities to increase the capacity of those offices to serve the public.
- DMV staff will be available to review documents and answer questions one day every other week at the Memorial Union building on the Oregon State University campus. The first of these is at 10 AM to 2 PM Sept. 22. Future dates will be posted at OregonDMV.com.
For transactions that require people to visit DMV in person – such as driver license renewals – Corvallis-area residents can use offices in nearby cities, such as Albany and Junction City. DMV office locations and business hours are listed at OregonDMV.com.
"We regret the inconvenience to the community during this move," Miles said. "It will be a difficult transition period, but we are committed to operating an office in Corvallis."
