Closure for repairs is in addition to the August 20 statewide furlough
The John Day DMV will be closed Friday, Aug. 27, for repairs – in addition to the Friday, Aug. 20, state government mandatory furlough closure.
DMV recommends that customers first go to http://www.oregondmv.com/ to see if they can do their business with DMV online or by mail, or to get better prepared for a faster transaction if they must visit a DMV office in person.
"Our Eastern Oregon customers often face a long drive to visit a DMV office, so we recommend they check online before they leave home," DMV Field Services Manager Stephanie Miles said. "They may be able to save a trip by doing their transaction online or by mail if they download and print the forms."
If customers need to visit a DMV office in person, DMV recommends that they try to avoid the days just before or just after these two consecutive Friday closures in August. Wait times tend to be longer just before and after office closures for holidays or statewide furloughs.
If a customer needs to visit a DMV office in person on one of these Fridays in August, the nearest alternatives are in Baker City and Burns. Customers can find all DMV office hours and locations at http://www.oregondmv.com/.
DMV is closing the John Day office to install new carpeting and flooring. DMV has had its John Day office at 193 N. Canyon Blvd. for about 12 years.
