DMV to close for furlough on Monday holiday
News Release

May 16, 2012
12-131

Customers advised to avoid long lines before and after closure

Oregon DMV Headquarters and all local DMV offices will be closed Friday, May 25, as well as Memorial Day, which falls on Monday, May 28.

The May 25 closure is the third of 10 statewide mandatory unpaid "furlough" days for state employees scheduled for the 2011-13 budget period.

Customer waiting times tend to be longer on the days just before and after office closures, particularly around statewide furloughs and holidays.

DMV suggests that customers try to do business by mail or online, if possible, or plan their visits to DMV before Thursday, May 24, or after Tuesday, May 29.

People also can do some business with DMV online any time. Online DMV services include most passenger vehicle registration renewals, changes of address, and notice of vehicle sale. To access DMV's online services go to www.OregonDMV.com/online.

DMV offices will reopen on their regularly scheduled days and times after the furlough day. For a complete list of DMV offices and their business hours, go to http://www.oregondmv.com/.

The next statewide furlough is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 17. For more information about the statewide mandatory furloughs, visit the Department of Administrative Services' website at www.Oregon.gov/DAS. For a complete list of state agency closures, visit http://oregon.gov/furlough_closures.shtml.
