- Fill out an Application for Title and Registration. Include insurance information on your Application if you are renewing the registration.
- DEQ inspection: If you live in the Portland or Rogue Valley (Medford) area and you are renewing license plates or you need to register a vehicle with no Oregon registration, your vehicle must pass an emissions test at DEQ. - Plate Transfer: You may transfer Oregon license plates you own to your vehicle. The plates may only be transferred to the same type of vehicle. They must be legible and of current issue or specialty background.
- The expiration date will stay the same.
- Plates must be unexpired or renewed at the time of plate transfer.
- Plate transfer fee is $6.
- Figure fees (make check or money order payable to “Oregon DMV”):
- Send in your title, documents, and fees.
- Mail to the address below, or
- Take to any DMV office if you are registering and need a temporary permit. If all is in order, you may be able to get plates or stickers at the DMV office.
