| About This Permit |
|
This trip permit allows operation of unregistered motor vehicles that have a registration (loaded or combined) weight over 8,000 pounds and for self-propelled fixed load vehicles regardless of weight. Combined weight means the weight of the vehicle or combination of vehicles and the maximum load it will haul.
This trip permit is not for tow vehicles, motor homes, or currently registered farm vehicles.

| How to Buy This Permit |

You may buy a Heavy Motor Vehicle Trip Permit at any DMV office or by mail. Provide the following to DMV (there is no form to fill out):
- Information about you:
- Name
- Address
- Driver license or ID number and state of issuance (if not Oregon )
- Vehicle information:
- Year
- Make and model
- Vehicle identification number (VIN)
- Combined weight
- Fee: $21 for 10 consecutive days
- Weight-Mile Tax or Over-Dimensional Permits: Vehicles with a combined weight over 26,000 pounds may be subject to weight-mile tax. Vehicles with a combined weight over 80,000 pounds require an over-dimensional permit. Contact Motor Carrier Transportation Division at (503) 378-6699 for more information.
