  • Welcome to Access Management
    The Access Management Unit is part of the Highway Division, Technical Services Branch. It is responsible for overseeing and directing the Access Management Program, a program that manages how and where the department permits access to state highways from adjacent land.
     
    ODOT manages highway access based on state law, engineering principles and objective standards that balance the economic development needs of property abutting highways with the need to maintain safe and efficient operation of the state highway system. The program is managed in a manner that is consistent with local comprehensive plans.

Senate Bill 264 amended sections of ORS 374. The changes have been codified in OAR 734-051.

 

Technical Bulletins Posted for Review

ODOT has developed Technical Bulletins to provide guidance for implementing recent changes to highway approach permit standards and procedures. The formal review period is now open. You are invited to provide comments.

Access Management Standards

Changing the use of a driveway connection is regulated by state law. A change of use occurs when the number of vehicles using a driveway increases or it no longer operates safely.
