About Us
The Oregon Pedestrian and Bicycle Program provides direction to ODOT in support of walking/ bicycling. We also provide support to local governments, governmental and non-governmental organizations and private citizens, in planning, designing and constructing pedestrian and bicycle facilities.  Below is a brief, bulleted summary of the ODOT Pedestrian and Bicycle Program.
Policies and Programs:
  • Formulating policies
  • Facilitating for the increased use of non- motorized modes of transportation
  • Developing products such as bicycling maps and Bicyclist Manual 
  • Giving presentations and organizing conferences to local government staff and the general public
  • Coordinating the Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee activities
Technical Assistance:
  • Providing technical assistance within the Department and to local officials regarding walk- way and bikeway design, construction, and   maintenance
  • Recommending design standards for walkways and bikeways  
  • Reviewing local Transportation Systems Plans for pedestrian and bicycle compatibility
