In mid 2008 the Geo/Hydro Leadership Team (GHLT) set on a course to provide a conference to benefit the disciplines of ODOT’s Geology/Geotech, Hydraulics and Hazardous Materials units. These units had not seen a conference specific to their disciplines in eight years.
The 2009 Geo/Hydro/HazMat Conference was born and the planning began. A successful conference ensued as the priority goals were met: to “promote networking within ODOT, with other Government Agencies and Consultants; provide opportunities for learning in all the disciplines; and create a fun atmosphere.”
As one attendee later stated, "the number and quality of the presentations speaks to the high caliber of dedicated professionals within the Geo/Hydro/Haz-Mat community that we are fortunate to work with on a regular basis".
The conference was such a huge success that it is highly suggested they occur on a regular basis.
