The Hydraulics Program is responsible for developing and maintaining the ODOT Hydraulics Manual. This program is part of Geo-Environmental’s Engineering and Asset Management Unit.

The Hydraulics Manual (2011 version) is now available. The manual is only available through this website.
The manual changes are effective beginning April 2, 2012. These changes supersede all previous versions and apply to new designs projects as of the effective. New ODOT designed projects are those that do not have an approved DAP by the effective date. New outsourced projects are those that do not have an executed work order contract for PE by the effective date. However, existing projects may make use of the new changes, if agreed to by the CPM or Project Team Leader.
Edits within existing chapters are shown in blue highlighting. Chapter or appendix titles highlighted in blue are new.
Changes were made to chapters 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 11, 12, 13, and 15.
New guidance added to the manual includes:
- Hydraulic Design Deviation (Chapter 3 and Appendix A)
- Operation and Maintenance Manual Examples (Chapter 4, Appendix D)
- Oregon 24-hour Precipitation Maps (Chapter 7, Appendix H)
- Water Quality (Chapter 14)
- Low Impact Development Approach (Appendix A)
- Biofiltration Facilities (Appendix B)
- Media Filtration Facilities (Appendix C)
- Density Separation Facilities (Appendix D)
- Stormwater Treatment Facility Components (Appendix E)
- Oil Control Structures (Appendix F)
- Field Markers (Chapter 17)

Technical Bulletins may be issued between manual updates. Bulletins are intended to provide immediate guidance on process, procedures and design information for users until the next manual update, at which time the bulletin may be incorporated into the Hydraulics Manual.
