Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) release 2
Description

Region 1 Traffic Management Operations Center TMOCThis project centers on the Portland Metro area and involves the development of an Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) to help manage the highway system.
Prior to this project, the Portland Metro area was operating an ATMS based on the Georgia DOT ATMS software. The TransPort ATMS Phase II project involves integrating system-wide adaptive ramp metering (SWARM), alpha-numeric paging, automatic vehicle location of ODOT incident response ("COMET") vehicles and deployment of a near-real time traffic condition status map on TripCheck.com. In addition, a development and test environment will be established and updates to the TransPort ATMS graphical user interface will be made to support Phase II development and deployment.

The ATMS Release 2 project completed in October 2004. TMOC operators have several new enhancements to make their work more efficient. Region 1 traffic engineers now have the tools to begin working on system wide adaptive ramp metering, and TripCheck now has a speed map.
