Road User Fee Task Force to meet May 14
The Oregon Road User Fee Task Force will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, in the Journey Room of the Memorial Union-Joyce Powell Leadership Center at Oregon State University in Corvallis.
The agenda includes a technology demonstration by professors David Kim and David Porter of Oregon State University. They will demonstrate a potential method of gathering data for a mileage-based fee. Task force members will tour the OSU technology simulation site.
Other items on the agenda are a presentation and discussion of the mileage fee pilot program design, and a discussion of other potential revenue sources.
The Oregon Legislature established the Road User Fee Task Force in 2001 to examine every possible revenue option for transportation funding. As fuel efficiency increases and new fuel sources such as fuel cells and hybrid electric vehicles become more widespread, the funds available to construct and maintain roads and bridges is projected to decrease. The mission of the Task Force is to recommend an alternative funding system to the Legislature and sponsor a pilot program to determine feasibility and public acceptance for the most promising revenue options.
Accommodations will be provided to persons with disabilities. Alternate formats available upon request. If a sign language interpreter is needed, please call Kathy Kleen at (503) 986-3193 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
