Road User Fee Task Force to meet Nov. 19

The Oregon Road User Fee Task Force will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, in the Main Conference Room of the Transportation Building, 355 Capitol St. N.E., in Salem.

The agenda includes updates on the status of the pilot project, and on a grant from the Federal Highway Administration. The task force also will hear a report on the “hydrogen economy” from Justin Klure of the Oregon Department of Energy.

The Oregon Legislature established the Road User Fee Task Force in 2001 to examine every possible revenue option for transportation funding. As fuel efficiency increases and new fuel sources, such as fuel cells and hybrid electric vehicles, become more widespread, the funds available to construct and maintain roads and bridges is projected to decrease. The mission of the Task Force is to recommend an alternative funding system to the Legislature and sponsor a pilot program to determine feasibility and public acceptance for the most promising revenue options.

Accommodations will be provided to persons with disabilities. Alternate formats are available upon request. If a sign language interpreter is needed, please call Kathy Kleen at (503) 986-3193 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
