Long Range Transportation Planning
Program Overview

The goal of long range transportation planning is to plan for and provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities for Oregonians.

ODOT has developed plans and programs to guide it in achieving this goal.

The Oregon Highway Plan establishes policies and investment strategies for the State Highway System. Corridor plans are more specific and provide a plan for an entire or significant portion of highway. Refinement plans  are even more specific and provide a plan for a specific segment of highway.

ODOT also coordinates the state transportation system with the transportation systems of cities and counties through transportation system plans  (TSPs).

To enhance Oregon´s livability, foster integrated land use and transportation planning and encourage development that results in compact, pedestrian-, bicycle-, and transit-friendly communities ODOT and DLCD developed the Transportation Growth Management  (TGM) program.
