In September 2009 a contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) began work on the first phase of a preservation and beautification project on Oregon Highway 224 in downtown Estacada. Project improvements within the City of Estacada from SE Second Avenue to SE Currin Street include:
• Converting the current striped median into a raised, planted median.
• Reconfiguring existing highway shoulders and sidewalks to include a standard-width bike lane and landscape strips with trees and plants.
• Installing new street lights and ADA-standard sidewalks.
Read the weekly construction news which details the traffic impacts on this project, updated every Friday.
Phase one of the project is expected to be completed by January 2010. Phase two of the project, which will involve paving and striping from Eagle Creek to Estacada, is scheduled to begin in June 2010.
