OR 99E Safety Improvement Project: Mile post 13.8 - 15.2 (south of Oregon City)
On Sept. 3, 2009 (one week ahead of schedule), a contractor completed a safety improvement project on Oregon Highway 99E from milepost 13.8 to 15.2, just south of the Canemah District in Oregon City. The project included paving and re-striping the highway from four through-lanes to two through-lanes with a continuous left turn lane, as well as upgrading guardrails and signs. The contractor began work in July 2009.

The project area included a section of OR 99E that has had a high incidence of serious crashes, the majority of which were rear-end collisions. The project has resulted in a safe refuge for left-turning vehicles.
