The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), in conjunction with the City of Scappoose, is beginning a construction project to add a 4th leg to the intersection of U.S. 30 and Havlik Drive in Scappoose. In its current configuration, Havlik Drive ends at the west side of U.S. 30. Once complete, Havlik Drive will continue across U.S. 30 and the railroad tracks and connect to an extension of 2nd St., being developed as part of a future project. A signalized railroad crossing will be built on the newly constructed section of Havlik Drive. Two railroad crossings in Scappoose will be closed as part of this project on Santosh Street and Candlestick Access.
Construction on the railroad portion is already under way and the road construction will begin October 2009. Project completion is slated for July 2010. There will be short-term shoulder and lane closures on U.S. 30. Motorists may experience short delays while traveling on U.S. 30. The highway will remain open at all times.
This project uses federal stimulus funds – $4.2 million of the $5 million project was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
Thank you to those who attended the project open house on Sept. 24. We appreciate your time and feedback.
