U.S. 30: Van Street
Project Information
The Oregon Department of Transportation is designing a $4 million modernization and paving project in the City of Clatskanie between Swedetown Road (milepost 60.8) and Highway 47 (milepost 61.8).  Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2011 and finish in fall 2011.  Project elements include:
  • Widen U.S. 30 at Van Street to accommodate a left-turn lane for eastbound/southbound traffic
  • Stripe a continuous left turn lane on U.S. 30 between Van Street and the Clatskanie River Bridge
  • Pave and stripe a 1-mile section of U.S. 30 in the project area
  • Build new sidewalks and pedestrian ramps west of the Clatskanie River to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines
  • Reconstruct the existing bicycle/pedestrian path along U.S. 30 east of the Clatskanie River to meet ADA guidelines
  • Upgrade signage, drainage and guardrail in the project area
  • Identify access control to the highway to improve safety

Public Meeting Scheduled November 9
Join ODOT at a public meeting to learn more about this project
When: Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 - stop by anytime from 5 - 7 p.m.  There will be a short presentation by project staff at both 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  The remaining time, staff will be available for questions and one-on-one interactions.
