OR 224 Preservation Project


A contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation has completed work on a project to pave Oregon 224 (Milwaukie Expressway) from SE 17th Avenue to the Interstate 205 interchange.  Work on the 4.4-mile section of OR 224 began in spring 2006. The contractor finished work on all items in the contract in July 2007.
 
This $5.9 million preservation project included the following upgrades:
  • Paving and striping all lanes of OR 224
  • Replacing median barrier, guardrail and various bridge joints
  • Upgrading traffic and pedestrian signals
  • Adding new sidewalk from SE Harrison Street to Oak Street and additions or improvements to curb ramps throughout the project corridor.
  • Two new water quality swales
