Work was complete in 2012 on a $4.6 million project on U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) 26 miles east of U.S. 101 to realign a curve near Salmonberry and pave an 11-mile stretch of U.S. 26 between Military Creek Road (milepost 26) and Wolf Creek (milepost 34).
 
The curve alignment between Salmonberry and Viewpoint was sharp and tight. The new alignment straightened the curve and reduced the risk of crashes.
