U.S. 30: Swedetown Road to OR 47 (formerly U.S. 30: Van St.)
Project Information
The Oregon Department of Transportation completed construction fall 2011 on a $4 million modernization and paving project in the City of Clatskanie between Swedetown Road (milepost 60.8) and Highway 47 (milepost 61.8).  The project contractor was Oregon Mainline Paving.  Project elements included:
  • Widen U.S. 30 at Van Street to accommodate a left-turn lane for eastbound/southbound traffic.  This will include an extension of the left turn lane westbound toward the Clatskanie River Bridge
  • Pave and stripe a 1-mile section of U.S. 30 in the project area
  • Build new sidewalks (where they don't already exist) and pedestrian ramps along U.S. 30 west of the Clatskanie River
  • Reconstruct the existing bicycle/pedestrian path along U.S. 30 east of the Clatskanie River to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines
  • Upgrade signage, drainage and guardrail in the project area
  • Improve safety by making access modifications to the highway
