 |
| Overview |
|
This OTIA project will repair or replace aging bridges along Oregon 6, Wilson River Highway. These bridges are an important link in freight movement to Tillamook and other communities on the Oregon Coast. The route is also an important connector between the Willamette Valley and coastal communities that rely on tourism for economic prosperity.
Replacement bridges:
- Highway 6 over Wilson River (Mills) at mile post 5.78.
- Highway 6 over Wilson River at mile post 32.
Please note that these bridges are being reviewed to see if repairs will suffice and still meet anticipated traffic for the next 20 years.
Repair bridges:
- Highway 6 over Jordan Creek at milepost 18.
- Highway 6 over the Wilson River at milepost 11.8.
Estimated project schedule:
- Public meeting: To be determined after scope (repair or replacement) is reviewed
- Construction Bid let: April 2010
- Project completion: November 2012
Total project cost is estimated at $28.6 million, and funding will come from OTIA bonds.

| Public Involvement |
|
The Mills Bridge is currently being reviewed to see if repairs will suffice in lieu of replacement. The project team has recommended repair for the Devils Lake Fork Bridge. Contractors will install monitoring devices that will take readings over the next couple of months to see if the bridges can be repaired sufficiently to withstand the forecast traffic over the next 20 years.
When the data are analyzed, the project team will hold a public meeting and discuss how the project may proceed. Nearby landowners, the media and people who have signed up to receive all ODOT news releases for Tillamook and Clatsop Counties will be notified in advance of the meeting. Alternatively, you can check back to this page or contact Suzanne Roberts to be added to the project mailing list.
