| U.S. 101: Manzanita Ave - Neahkahnie Creek |

 |
| Overview |
|
The purpose of the project is to provide fish passage by replacing an impassible culvert with an arch pipe culvert. The existing culvert is over 500 feet, has a steep grade (causing high water velocities) and the ends are perched (causing additional fish passage problems). The proposed new culvert length is approximately 60 feet. The project will restore the active stream channel, about 400 feet, that is now buried within the existing culvert.
Construction is expected to start in June 2011 and be completed by Spring 2012. All lanes on U.S. 101 are expected to remain open during construction except for minor delays associated with moving equipment and materials into place. The channel reconstruction work will be completed during the federally permitted in-water work period, Sept. 15 to Oct. 31.
Construction of this $3.2 million project comes from dedicated fish passage funding.
