| Oregon 126: Horseshoe Creek - Siuslaw River (Florence) |
| Overview |
This project will improve 20 miles of pavement on Oregon 126W from milepost 7 to milepost 26.4; Mapleton is the approximate center of the work. The pavement on this section is in poor condition and roadbed settling has caused some sections of the highway to have a “roller coaster” effect. The project will create a smoother and safer surface in these problem areas and will upgrade some sub-standard roadside safety features, such as guardrails.

The project began mid-May and will continue through the fall. No work will take place during winter weather. We expect to begin final paving summer 2010.
Expect 24-hour flagging and one-lane traffic with 10- to 20-minute delays between milepost 8 and 11 (between Hanson Creek and Saunders Creek) through early July. Flagging, 24-hours a day, also will be underway for retaining wall construction and bridge repair work intermittently through the fall.
Steve Templin, ODOT assistant project manager asked that you plan extra time for trips during the next few months and to take extra caution driving through the work zones. If you are driving to or from the Reedsport area, consider taking Highway 38 with access from I-5 at Curtin.
Please check our weekly construction updates for more information during the construction period.
