| Oregon 22: Gooseneck Creek Bridge |
| Overview |
The project is located on Oregon 22 (Three Rivers Highway) at mile point 9.37, between the cities of Dallas and Willamina, near Gooseneck Creek Road. This project includes replacement of the current bridge, built in 1934, with a new single span concrete bridge.
There is abrasion and exposed aggregate on the bridge footings (foundation). All the timber caps have discoloration and staining. The joints leak at the curb line. On the underside of the deck there is spalling (flaking) of the concrete and exposed reinforcing.
The project will also address significant fish passage problems created by erosion at a downstream gravel operation that have moved upstream to the bridge. Oregon state law requires these problems to be corrected when a replacement bridge is built.
According to preliminary, planning-level estimates, the project will cost $5.8 million; this includes engineering, right of way, utility relocation and construction. The estimate is likely to change when the fish passage design solutions are incorporated into the project.
