Planning Your Travel

Construction is scheduled to begin June 1, 2016, on the west end curve portion of the U.S. 20 Pioneer Mountain - Eddyville Project.

You will be able to travel through the construction area this summer, but take some time to plan your trip in advance.

Between June 1 and July 15, expect regular 20 minute delays, with 2 hour closures possible during the day. Two hour closure dates and times will be posted a week in advance.

July 16 to October 31, expect the road to be closed overnight, Sunday through Thursday. 6:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. The road will be open Friday and Saturday nights. Note: the road may be closed on Saturday night if it is needed due to progress or weather issues.

There are two detour routes: OR 34 through Waldport and OR 18/ OR 22 through Lincoln City. Message boards will be placed on Interstate 5, U.S. 101, and at points along U.S. 20 with current road status and schedules.

The overnight closure times are planned to allow blasting during the last two hours of daylight. Crews will then work through the night and the road will be open to travel during the day.

Project Overview

The US 20 Project (US 20 PME:  UPRR-Eddyville) will complete a new, 5.5 mile segment of US 20 in Lincoln County.
The project will  replace a ten mile segment of old US 20 that has narrow lanes and hairpin curves, with a 5.5 mile segment that will be straighter, with wide shoulders and miles of passing lanes.
Construction on the project began in 2005 when the project was a Design-Build project.
In 2012, ODOT took over the project and began the task of completing the project in phases.
