| Oregon 22/99E: Shelton Ditch Urgent Bridge Maintenance (Salem) |
| Overview |
Shelton Ditch Bridge is located at the intersection of Bellevue and 12th Street in Salem. Shelton Ditch’s flow erodes the water channel at the base of the bridge’s foundations, a condition known as scouring. Scouring cause’s maintenance problems and can eventually lower the amount of weight the bridge can safely handle.
This structure has experienced significant scour that is eroding under the bridge footings. Prior measures to stop the erosion are failing and the need for repair is considered urgent. The repairs will remove failed scour protections, use grout to stabilize the bridge footings and restore the stream bed.
