| Overview |
|
This section of U.S.101 cuts through steep terrain with sharp curves that cause limited visibility. Very few sections are long enough to provide safe passing opportunities and slow moving vehicles cause severe congestion during peak travel times.
The project is looking at providing north and south bound passing lanes from mile post 83.70 to mile post 84.67, widening the road to four lanes. The existing bridge over the Nestucca River would also be widened.
We expect to begin the construction bidding process summer 2012.

Right now we are designing stormwater treatment facilities, surveying the site we selected for wetlant mitigation, analyzing the effects of widening the bridge piers and scheduling meeting to update local stakeholders on the project's progress.
