Mile posts 194.5 to 196
Motorists should use caution while driving on the ground surfaces along Beltline the week of May 19. Daytime activities include bridge, roadway and pedestrian path construction. In addition, daytime asphalt paving will continue, although this work is weather dependent. Nighttime work includes ramp and lane closures on westbound Beltline to protect workers during guardrail installation and paving operations. Please watch for trucks entering and leaving the roadway in the project area. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 30. McKenzie River Bridges to Goshen on I-5
(Between mile post 188 to mile post 201)
This project will replace two sets of bridges at the I-5/Highway 58 interchange (in Goshen) and replace two bridges that carry I-5 traffic over the McKenzie River north of Eugene-Springfield.
- I-5 at McKenzie River: Watch for roadside workers and equipment throughout the week.
- I-5 at the Highway 58 Goshen interchange: Watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes. Watch for roadside workers and equipment.
- Eastbound Highway 58 at Goshen Interchange: Watch for traffic occasionally controlled by flaggers.
- Westbound Highway 58 to I-5 southbound onramp is closed. Watch for signs directing traffic to an alternate route.
- Franklin Boulevard under I-5: Watch for traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect brief delays for bridge work.
- McKenzie View Drive: Watch for roadside crews and equipment.
- McKenzie River users: The main channel is open to river traffic.
OR58: GOSHEN TO OAKRIDGE
Bridge repair and replacement project
(Highway 58 near Goshen to Oakridge)
This project will replace or repair five bridges along Highway 58 between Goshen and Oakridge. The bridges are at mile post 1.96, just east of Goshen (repair); mile post 2.71 just east of the I-5 and Highway 58 interchange (replace); the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge at mile point 8 near Pleasant Hill (replace); the Lost Creek Bridge at mile post 9.5 west of Lowell (replace); and a bridge over a private logging road near Oakridge. Two-lane traffic will be maintained between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week. For the week of May 19, the contractor’s activities include:
- Willamette River Relief Opening at milepost 2.7: Traffic is in a temporary detour on the north side of the highway. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers intermittently throughout the week. Watch for construction work on the south side of Highway 58.
- UPRR overcrossing at milepost 8.1: Watch for construction work on the north side of Highway 58 and construction vehicles entering and exiting the highway.
- Lost Creek Bridge at milepost 9.51: Watch for roadside construction equipment and crews along the north side of Highway 58.
(I-5 mile post 174 through mile post 172 in Cottage Grove)
This project will replace three I-5 bridges and repair two other I-5 bridges near Cottage Grove .
- Main Street under I-5: Single-lane closures on Main Street will occur during daytime hours. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment.
- London Road (Sixth Street) bridge over I-5: Watch for flaggers intermittently at Exit 172 to allow construction equipment to access onramps and offramps
- Northbound I-5 at Sixth Street (mile post 172.2): Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment.
Jasper Road; mile post 1.2 to mile post 5.1
This project includes several safety improvements on Jasper Road between Springfield and Jasper. Improvements include widening roadway shoulders, new guardrail, striping and signing upgrades as well as clearing trees and other vegetation off shoulders. The project also includes work by the Union Pacific Railroad, Springfield Utility Board, Emerald Peoples Utility District and Qwest to move power poles back as far as possible from the highway. This project is in the same corridor with Lane County’s construction of Bob Straub Parkway and is being coordinated with Lane County.
Several utility companies are working in this section through May to complete utility relocation work. Expect delays in this area.
Interstate 5 Milepost 182.5

This project will replace five bridges on Interstate 5 just south of Cottage Grove.

OR99W: MILLER CREEK BRIDGE
Highway 99 milepost 102.63 to 102.81
This project includes replacement of the existing bridge over Miller Creek. For the week of May 19, the temporary traffic signal will be reactivated as the contractor completes the roadwork for this project. Clear width between barriers will be reduced to 19 feet. The temporary traffic signal will remain in operation 24 hours a day until the new bridge is complete and traffic is shifted to its final alignment. Motorists should expect regular work on the shoulders and should be prepared for slowing traffic in the area, as well as trucks entering and exiting the highway. During some construction activities, the temporary signal will be turned off and traffic will be controlled by flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 2009.
