Open house for McMinnville signal and safety project
ODOT staff will discuss safety issues and how the project will affect the area

Staff from the Oregon Department of Transportation will be on hand to discuss the McMinnville Signals and Safety Improvements Project at a public meeting on April 21 at the McMinnville Community Center from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The project consists of replacing the traffic signal and improving the turning radii at McDonald Lane as well as interconnection of traffic signals and access management in the project area. The project is necessitated by a relatively high crash rate, especially relative to turning movements. Both Oregon 99W at McDaniel and McDonald Lanes have been listed on ODOT’s Safety Priority Index System (SPIS), which is based on crash frequency and severity relative to traffic volume.

The $1.5 million project comes from federal operations and safety funding. The project is scheduled to begin construction in fall 2010 and end in summer 2011.

To learn more, attend the April 21 meeting or visit the project Web site. Contact Project Leader Jim Cook at (503) 986-2865 with any questions or comments.
