| 04/18/2006 |
RICKREALL—The Oregon Department of Transportation will be turning on a new signal light at 99W and Rickreall Road between 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20. The new signal replaces a flashing light and requires drivers to come to a complete stop at the red light.
In addition to the new signal, the new intersection will have dedicated left turn lanes in four directions, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. Motorists on 99W and Rickreall Road will be warned as they approach the new signal by message boards and “signal change ahead” signs.
“While many motorists who use this route have been anticipating the change, we want to encourage people to proceed with caution until they get accustomed to the new signal, “said Ray Bryant, ODOT Assistant Project Manager.
The new signal and intersection are part of the Rickreall Junction Interchange Project that will improve the intersections of OR 22 with OR 99W and OR 223. The project involves construction of a grade-separated interchange that improves visibility and connectivity, and reduces accidents.
The project is scheduled to be completed by November of this year.
