Expect traffic changes near Grand Ronde
Contractors begin paving and striping work on Oregon 18 (Salmon River Highway)
As weather permits, final paving and striping work on Oregon 18 for the Fort Hill to Wallace Bridge Project (mile posts 23.8 to 26.3) will require traffic changes several times during the upcoming weeks. Daytime traffic should move continuously through the area with minor delays. Please drive with caution and watch for work crews as signs and flaggers will control traffic.
Currently, two-way traffic is reduced to two-lanes on the southern half of the highway. Traffic is separated from major construction activity by a concrete barrier. Later this week or early next week, westbound traffic will be shifted north of the barrier where it will remain for the duration of the project. Look for further traffic changes as single-lane closures in each direction are needed to allow contractors to pave and stripe the new roadway.
Drivers currently access businesses on the south side of the highway via a local frontage road. In approximately two to three weeks, access to businesses on both sides of the highway will be via frontage roads.

The speed limit is 45 mph through the work zone. Nighttime, temporary lane closures will result in one-way traffic controlled by flaggers between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
This project includes grading, drainage, bridge construction, paving, signing, illumination and roadside development work, including a new interchange with a bridge over Oregon 18 and access to Fort Hill and South Yamhill River Road. The project is scheduled for completion this fall.
