ODOT will post concepts online and attend the Tillamook Farm

TILLAMOOK—The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) invites community members to drop by a booth at the Tillamook Farmers’ Market on between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 (2nd Street and Laurel Avenue) to provide input about which options developed as part of the U.S. 101/Oregon 6 Alternatives Study ought to be carried forward. The Alternatives Study, led by ODOT in cooperation with the City of Tillamook and Tillamook County, will identify ways to improve safety and reduce congestion on Main and Pacific avenues between 1st and 3rd streets in downtown Tillamook.

These busy intersections link U.S. 101 and Oregon 6, two important highways, and serve businesses and residents in Tillamook. The project team has worked with community members to identify a range of options, including new highway lanes across the Hoquarten Slough, to better serve everyone – people in cars, in trucks, on bike and on foot – while advancing the City of Tillamook’s goals for revitalizing downtown. After the public has the opportunity to provide input, ODOT, the City of Tillamook and Tillamook County will determine which options should be studied in more detail.

The project team anticipates beginning the detailed federally-required environmental analysis in fall 2009.
