Girder removal will delay Beltline traffic
08/06/2007
SPRINGFIELD – An Oregon Department of Transportation contractor will intermittently stop Beltline Road traffic at the Interstate 5-Beltline Interchange beginning at 11:30 p.m. Monday to remove girders and columns previously used to support the flyover structure.

As the contractor removes those support girders above Beltline, flaggers will stop traffic. Once each girder is safely removed, flaggers will allow traffic to continue through the work zone. This work will affect eastbound and westbound lanes of Beltline in the vicinity of the flyover.

The I-5 southbound ramp to westbound Beltline will also close intermittently while girders are removed. This could cause traffic queues to back up onto I-5. ODOT asks drivers to proceed cautiously and be prepared to stop.

The overnight work will take place from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning. Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
