New Youngs Bay Bridge work will require overnight detour

ODOT will use three crews to perform multiple maintenance activities, reducing work duration

ASTORIA – ODOT will close the New Youngs Bay Bridge nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, Aug. 30 until the morning of Friday, Sept. 4, to perform several regular bridge maintenance activities.

While the bridge is closed overnight, an electrical crew will work on illumination systems, while the Astoria drawbridge crew performs traffic gate maintenance and the Seaside bridge crew works on the bridge deck joints.

Variable message signs will direct drivers on U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) to the detour route on U.S. 101B over the Old Youngs Bay and Lewis and Clark Bridges for the duration of the maintenance work.
