US20- Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project to flag traffic
Short delays expected during two separate operations
EDDYVILLE— Motorists traveling along US20, near Eddyville, will experience short delays on Thursday, September 3, as crews conduct a hydroseeding operation near the US20-Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project.
Flaggers will control traffic at mile post 25, east of Eddyville, while the hydroseeding occurs. Minimal delays are expected.
Hydroseed is an erosion control product that combines grass seed, a natural fiber material and fertilizer. It is applied to bare soil in anticipation of heavy, winter rain. The fiber acts as mulch for the seed and protects the soil from erosion until the grass seed can take root.
In addition, the project is receiving large, precast concrete beams that will be attached to the bridge structures under construction. As trucks carrying the beams make the sharp turn into the project area, motorists may experience short delays.
There are eight bridges currently under construction in the project. The US20-Pioneer Mountain to Eddyville project will have a total of 10 new bridges and 6 miles of new road when completed in 2011. It is the largest road and bridge construction project underway in Oregon.
