| ODOT to close Highway 126 eastbound ramp to Pioneer Parkway Saturday after UO game |
|
| 09/14/2007 |
SPRINGFIELD – The Oregon Department of Transportation and the Springfield Police Department will close the eastbound Highway 126 (Interstate 105 East) exit ramp to Pioneer Parkway at the conclusion of the University of Oregon’s football game on Saturday night.
Heavy post game congestion on Pioneer Parkway from Centennial Boulevard north to Q Street could present safety hazards for motorists and the police officers controlling traffic. By limiting non-game traffic in the area of I-105 and Pioneer Parkway, ODOT hopes to alleviate some of the congestion.
During the closure, eastbound Highway 126 motorists are encouraged to take the Mohawk Boulevard exit and use Q Street to access north Springfield.
The ramp closure is expected to last about 90 minutes.
Before and after the game, which is set to begin at 4 p.m., ODOT incident responders will be cruising area highways to help control traffic and respond to any traffic issues. ODOT’s Highway Advisory Radio station (1660 AM) in Lane County, will also be broadcasting up-to-date traffic information. Travelers should call 511 or visit www.tripcheck.com for traffic conditions.
