| Crash closes Highway 126W at Greenhill |
|
| 10/02/2007 |
EUGENE – The multi-vehicle crash that closed OR 126 just west of Eugene will keep the highway closed until at least 10:30 p.m. Tuesday while Oregon State Police conduct an accident reconstruction.
The crash occurred just after 5:30 p.m. on Highway 126 just west of Greenhill Road. OSP and Oregon Department of Transportation crews created a detour using Royal Avenue, Greenhill Road and Fischer Road to move eastbound and westbound traffic around the crash scene. That detour remains in effect.
At approximately 6:25 p.m., a vehicle traveling north on Crow Road crashed into an unloaded semi-truck that was attempting to turn south onto Crow from Highway 126. The crash caused about 50 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway. A hazardous materials team is on site and has about 25 gallons of the fuel cleaned up. The second crash was a few hundred yards east of the multi-vehicle incident.
ODOT asks that motorists avoid the area if possible. Any drivers in the vicinity should slow down and be prepared to use the detour route.
