Night paving on I-5 in Goshen to close one lane of northbound traffic
10/19/2007
GOSHEN – Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation will close one northbound lane of Interstate 5 for about three miles in the Goshen area from Sunday night, Oct. 21, through Thursday morning, Oct. 25, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly.

One northbound lane of I-5 will be closed each night from just south of the I-5 interchange with Highway 58 (Exit 186), to the I-5 30th Avenue off-ramp (Exit 189). Contractors will also close the off-ramp from northbound I-5 to Franklin Boulevard (Exit 188B) on Sunday, Oct. 21, and Monday, Oct. 22, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. Signs will direct drivers to Franklin Boulevard via Exit 189.

These closures will allow contractors to complete paving on I-5 by early Thursday morning, Oct. 25. Drivers traveling on northbound I-5 in the Goshen area should drive carefully and watch for trucks and construction equipment in the area.

The work is part of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s I-5 McKenzie River to Goshen Grade project. Hamilton Construction, based in Springfield, is the lead contractor for the project. Hamilton will replace five bridges and repair two more during the next three years to ensure the safe and free flow of traffic along the I-5 corridor. Construction work on the $60 million project will be finished by fall 2009.
