ODOT Transportation Safety | Oct. 20, 2009 | 10-285-R2 | For Immediate Release Walt McAllister, (503) 986-4187 Sally Ridenour, (503) 986-3359 Input sought on Transportation Safety Action Plan People interested in transportation safety issues are invited to share their thoughts and ideas with the Transportation Safety Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation at a meeting on Nov. 3 in Astoria. The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Baked Alaska restaurant at No. 1 12th Street in Astoria. This is one of the first steps the Division is taking as it begins the process of updating the Oregon Transportation Safety Action Plan. The Oregon Transportation Safety Action Plan is the safety element of the Oregon Transportation Plan, the state’s long-range multimodal transportation plan. The Oregon Transportation Safety Action Plan establishes goals, strategies and initiatives that address the core transportation safety challenges and opportunities facing Oregon. It is updated every few years. The current version is posted online, http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/TS/tsap.shtml. The meeting agenda includes: o An outline of the transportation safety planning process o An overview of transportation safety related data including statewide data and data specific to Clatsop County o A discussion of statewide and local safety challenges and opportunities People interested in providing input but who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to contact Walt McAllister, Community Programs manager for ODOT’s Transportation Safety Division, at (503) 986-4187 or email safety@odot.state.or.us.
