ODOT seeking comments on proposed transportation projects
Review projects and comment online or attend the public meeting
If you ever wondered how major state transportation programs receive their initial funding, now is your opportunity to learn about the process and share your opinion. The Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking public input on its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
The STIP is ODOT’s short-term capital improvement program. It provides project funding and scheduling information for the department and the state’s metropolitan planning organizations. The Draft 2010-13 STIP document is available online at http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/STIP/. The public is welcome to comment online or at the public meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the Mid-Willamette Valley Area Commission on Transportation.
Meeting Nov. 6, from 3:30 - 6 p.m.
Senator Hearing Room
Courthouse Square
555 Court St. NE
Salem, OR 97301
"Public input helps us prioritize future transportation projects," Region STIP Coordinator Mac Lynde said. "We will highlight specific projects from Polk, Marion and Yamhill Counties at this public meeting, but other meetings will be held across the state as well."
While the STIP is a four-year funding program, federal regulations require the program to be updated every two years. It is developed through the coordinated efforts of ODOT, federal and local governments, Area Commissions on Transportation, tribal governments and the public.
The public review period for the 2010-2013 Draft STIP ends on Nov. 30, 2008.
