Two-way traffic restored on Wilson River Highway
TILLAMOOK – At 2:35 p.m., Oregon 6 was reopened from mile posts 15-49.
A mudslide Wednesday evening had blocked a culvert, causing mud and debris to flow on and across the highway.
Crews had to clear the road and remove the debris, including a large boulder that had become lodged in the culvert, before the road could be opened. Because of the amount of debris that washed onto the road, heavy construction equipment was used to clear the slide. With a precipitous drop where guardrail once stood and construction equipment moving quickly to clear the highway, only emergency vehicles were allowed through as work continued.
Expect minor delays when traveling through the area. Crews may work on the shoulder, so please drive with caution.
“With more winter storms approaching, it is important that drivers are prepared for possible delays or closures,” said Public Information Officer Adam Torgerson. “I encourage drivers to visit www.TripCheck.com to check road conditions. ODOT has winter driving tips on its Web site as well, www.oregon.gov/odot."
