GOSHEN -- Clean-up of the 5:15 a.m. Monday crash of a semi truck and trailer that closed all northbound Interstate 5 lanes at milepoint 188.2 in Goshen, just south of Eugene, is continuing.
Hazardous materials teams at the scene are off loading the trailer's cargo, which is classified as a hazardous material. That cargo is intact. The diesel fuel and engine oil that spilled from the wrecked truck has been cleaned up.
At this time, northbound traffic is being diverted onto the eastbound Highway 58 offramp, sent across the highway, and then placed back on I-5 north via the Highway 58 onramp. To facilitate this detour, the Highway 58 offramp from I-5 southbound remains closed. Crews on scene report the detour is working well. Northbound I-5 motorists can expect a 10- to 15-minute delay.
Northbound I-5 is expected to remain closed until about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
