I-5 north at Goshen reopened after wreckage removed
11/26/2007
GOSHEN – The truck wreck at on Interstate 5 northbound at Goshen has been removed and the freeway is now open. Crews opened both northbound lanes at about 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Although crews removed the wreckage and the highway is open, workers will continue clean-up and repair activities over the next 48 hours. A large amount of diesel soaked into the northbound highway subgrade, and that polluted material may have to be removed. Removal activities should not affect traffic.

The 5:15 a.m. crash also caused severe damage to the guardrail in two locations. That guardrail will be repaired Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. Until the guardrail is repaired, the outside shoulder of I-5 north will remain closed.

Hazardous materials teams removed the cargo from the trailer -- which overturned and blocked the freeway – before righting the vehicle and removing the wreckage from the scene. The crash occurred at milepoint 188.2 and closed the freeway from 5:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
