| Northbound I-5 will shift to new bridge at Goshen ahead of holiday traffic |

| 12/17/2007 |
GOSHEN – Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation will shift northbound Interstate 5 traffic to a new bridge over Highway 58 on Thursday, Dec. 20, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Drivers should expect minor delays as northbound I-5 is reduced to a single lane during the traffic switch.
The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Franklin Boulevard (exit 188B) will be closed during the traffic shift. Access from Highway 58 to Franklin Boulevard and northbound I-5 will be unaffected. The daytime traffic switch is safer both for drivers and for the construction crews alike. Most other lane restrictions on this project have occurred at night to reduce traffic impacts. This timing also avoids anticipated heavy holiday traffic. No construction work on the project is scheduled between Dec. 21 and Jan. 2.
The work is part of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s I-5 McKenzie River to Goshen Grade project. Hamilton Construction, based in Springfield, is the lead contractor for the project. Hamilton is replacing five bridges and repairing two more to ensure the safe and free flow of traffic along the I-5 corridor. Construction work on the $60 million project will be finished by fall 2009.
