I-5 northbound traffic near Goshen will move to new bridges beginning May 16
05/14/2008
SPRINGFIELD –An Oregon Department of Transportation contractor will switch northbound traffic onto the new northbound Interstate 5 bridges over Highway 58 and Franklin Boulevard in the Goshen area beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, May 16. The switch will be complete no later than 5 a.m. Saturday.

Northbound motorists should expect slowing traffic as they approach the Goshen Interchange. Minor delays are possible. ODOT scheduled the overnight switch to minimize traffic impacts.
In early summer, contractors will shift southbound I-5 traffic into a new alignment to temporarily share the new northbound bridges over Highway 58 and Franklin. Once that shift is completed, work will begin on the new southbound freeway bridges in the Goshen area.

This schedule may change due to weather conditions, especially heavy rain or strong winds.

This work is part of ODOT’s I-5 McKenzie River to Goshen Grade bridge project. Springfield-based Hamilton Construction is the lead contractor. Hamilton is replacing five bridges and repairing two more to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently along the I-5 corridor. Construction work on the $60 million project will be finished by fall 2009.
