Task force will meet on Wednesday, May 21 at Pringle Hall
A task force comprising Salem River Crossing Project stakeholders will meet from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Pringle Hall, 606 Church Street SE in Salem. The task force will review the project team’s work developing additional detail for bridge alternatives, including more precision in the location, elevation and curvature of the on and off ramps. “White” and “Red” alternatives will be highlighted at the meeting.
While tolling decisions will not be made within the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, the group will also discuss how various tolling options, including the use of tolls to manage congestion, will be included within the document.
The City of Salem and ODOT appointed the 21 person task force to help develop recommendations for river crossing solutions. Members of the task force include leaders of neighborhood and civic groups on both sides of the river, public agency staff and representatives of associated interest groups. The oversight team comprises project-related officials.
The City of Salem and ODOT are conducting the Salem River Crossing Project to develop solutions for crossing the Willamette River in the Salem-Keizer metropolitan area that meet transportation needs, are compatible with the built and natural environments and have broad community and regional support. The project builds on results of previous studies and will include development of an environmental impact statement and funding strategy.
